Good faith estimate (GFE)

The No Surprises Act was created for protecting you from surprise billing. You have a right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) detailing how much your medical care will cost before you receive care. 

Effective January 1, 2022, health care providers are required to provide a Good Faith Estimate to new and continuing clients that are uninsured or do not plan to submit a claim to their medical insurance plan for medical services and items. 

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the total cost of service orally and in writing. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate

in writing at least one business day prior to your medical service and appointment.

If your total cost of service is $400 above the Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the charge. Keep a copy of your Good Faith Estimate (GFE) in a safe place and take pictures of your Good Faith Estimate.
